Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command has launched a public awareness campaign titled \u2018Beware of Cybercrime\u2019, in collaboration with its strategic partner, Ras Al Khaimah Broadcasting Authority, to address online scams.<\/p>\n
Launched as a joint effort through the Media and Public Relations Department and the Department of Criminal Investigations at RAK Police, the campaign aims to address cybercrime by fostering cooperation between police officers and the public in Ras Al Khaimah to help identify fraudsters and potential scams. The effort is in line with the UAE Ministry of Interior\u2019s mission to enhance quality of life for all through smart, proactive and innovative services.<\/p>\n
Colonel Hamad Abdullah Al Awadhi, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, explained that the awareness campaign consists of a series of live dialogue sessions featuring interviews with experts in cybercrime prevention to highlight techniques and commonly used tactics employed by cybercriminals, such as fraudulent electronic links, phishing messages, phone scams and deceptive advertisements, including fake job postings. \u201cThe campaign aims to educate the public on ways to avoid becoming a victim of fraud, scams and electronic blackmail,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe highly encourage the community to participate in this campaign, which offers an ideal opportunity for participants to share their experiences and opinions on cybercrime, and expand their knowledge about the most effective ways to help avoid it and effectively address it,\u201d continued Colonel Al Awadhi. \u201cWe urge the public to remain vigilant and take all precautions to avoid falling prey to cybercriminals, and call on all members of communities across Ras Al Khaimah to work with the police to help identify potential fraudsters, and report any suspicious activities so that we can respond and take action immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n
