Sheikh Saud opens 14th Arabian Hotel Investment Conference \u2013 the first in Ras Al Khaimah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\nHis Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has officially opened the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Arabian Hotel Investment Conference, which is being held in Ras Al Khaimah for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The annual knowledge and networking platform for the hospitality investment community, being staged at the purpose-built AHIC Village on the beach at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, welcomed more than 800 leading hospitality figures from across the globe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rakmediaoffice.ae\/media\/1374\/his-highness-sheikh-saud-bin-saqr-al-qasimi-uae-supreme-council-member-and-ruler-of-ras-al-khaimah-ahic-english.jpg\" alt=\"HH delivers opening speech at AHIC\" data-udi=\"umb:\/\/media\/94243774c333443a9f4594d847369793\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Addressing the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Saud said: \u201cRas Al Khaimah is truly honored to have you here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a relatively short period of time, Ras Al Khaimah has changed from\u00a0a quiet, agricultural town,\u00a0where a formal education was hard to come by, to become a thriving Emirate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur economy has been growing steadily at a rate of between 5 and 7% in each of the past 5 years. That is because, among other things,\u00a0we have small set-up costs, affordable accommodation, numerous trade agreements in place and a great location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>H.H. Sheikh Saud said that tourism only contributes 5% to Ras Al Khaimah\u2019s overall GDP, compared to the biggest sector, manufacturing, at about 30%, but that the dynamics were changing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe aim to increase tourism\u2019s GDP contribution to 10% by 2025,\u201d the Ruler said. \u201cAlready, the sector has been growing at a rate of about 19% year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have 1 million visitors by the end of this year in Ras Al Khaimah and we have an achievable target of 2.9 million per year by 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During AHIC in Ras Al Khaimah, which is the highest-attended conference in its 14-year history,\u00a0His Excellency Mohamed Alabbar, Founder and Chairman of Emaar Properties, announced the launch of his company\u2019s first hotel and residences project in Ras Al Khaimah.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the Views island of Al Marjan Island, a man-made four-island tourism hub,\u00a0Address Hotel Al Marjan Island\u00a0will comprise 249 rooms, including suites, while\u00a0Address Residences Al Marjan Island\u00a0will comprise 234 high-end apartments.<\/p>\n<p>AHIC is returning to Ras Al Khaimah in 2019, from April 9-11, with an array of high-level speakers and panel discussions.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabianconference.com\/\">www.arabianconference.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has officially opened the 14th\u00a0Arabian Hotel Investment Conference, which is being held in Ras Al Khaimah for the first time.
