In line with directives and with tremendous support from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, His Excellency Counselor Hassan Muhaimed, Attorney General of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and H.E. Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, attended the special ceremony to award the Forensic Laboratory at Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters two international accreditations.

The directorate earned the ISO/IEc 17020:2012, as well as the ILAC G19 standard for the requirements of forensic evidence from the Emirates International Accreditation Center, thus becoming the first law enforcement agency in the UAE and across the Gulf region to obtain this international accreditation.

The ceremony was also attended by Brigadier General Abdullah Khamis Al Hadidi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of RAK Police, along with directors-general, heads of departments, and several officers and members of the police. H.E. Maj. Gen. Al Nuaimi applauded the efforts of the Forensic Laboratory team, whose hard work and dedication paved the way for this achievement, which is added to RAK Police’s illustrious track record and will support the lab’s development.

H.E. added that the Forensic Laboratory at Ras Al Khaimah Police enlists a team of highly qualified experts, and boasts advanced devices and equipment to provide a high-quality service that meets the aspirations of the Ministry of Interior and the objectives of the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters to ensure customer satisfaction and improve services.

H.E. the Commander-in-Chief stressed that this success takes RAK Police’s tech systems to the highest international levels, and contributes to the directorate’s efforts to investigate crime and minimize the rate of unsolved cases. “The Forensic Examination Units and Forensic Laboratory earned the certifications after meeting all the requirements set by international experts from the United States of America, Switzerland, Ireland, the UAE, and Egypt,” H.E. added, explaining that Ras Al Khaimah Police was awarded the EIAC accreditation as a type (A) investigative body for five units: autopsy, histopathology, and clinical forensic medicine, as well as for the women and children unit, and the fire traces examination and counterfeit currency investigative teams.

H.E. Major General Al Nuaimi honored the criminal laboratory and forensic medicine team at Ras Al Khaimah Police in appreciation of their efforts that helped secure this accreditation. H.E. instructed those in charge to work towards earning international accreditations for the remaining forensic laboratory units, in order to strengthen the laboratory’s pioneering role.
