H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, met Emirati students studying at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, as part of his four-day trip to China’s Guangdong Province.
Sheikh Saud also received members of the UAE Consulate in Guangzhou, in the presence of Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to China, and Mariam Alshamsi, UAE Consul-General in Guangzhou, to discuss their efforts in promoting the UAE’s interests abroad.
H.H. Sheikh Saud said, “Our Emirati students abroad serve as ambassadors of the nation’s identity and are a valuable asset in advancing the UAE’s development and enhancing its regional and global standing.”
His Highness encouraged the students to uphold exemplary morals, stay true to their Emirati values and traditions and approach their academic endeavours with dedication and perseverance.
Sheikh Saud also praised the vital role played by members of the UAE Consulate in Guangzhou in enhancing the UAE’s standing on the international stage, stating, “I was pleased today to meet members of our diplomatic mission in China, who embody an outstanding example of dedication and hard work in serving our nation. We appreciate their commitment to representing the UAE, strengthening our international relations and safeguarding the interests of our citizens. Their tireless efforts play a crucial role in enhancing our nation’s global standing.”
The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah is currently on a visit to Guangdong, China’s most populous province, to sign an agreement between the Emirate and the province, aiming to strengthen and promote exchange and cooperation across several sectors of mutual interest.
With a population of over 126 million people, Guangdong has the largest economy of any province in China, with a GDP of $1.9 trillion (AED6.98 trillion) in 2023. It is a major manufacturing hub, with electronics, automotive, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-tech industries, finance and real estate making up some of the key sectors.
