The signing reflects a shared commitment to promoting energy transition, industrial efficiency, and sustainable mobility.

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, July 14, 2025 — Ras Al Khaimah Municipality and Comune di Chieti, Italy, have formalised their collaboration through a Letter of Intent (LOI) to advance knowledge exchange and support sustainable development initiatives in both regions.

The agreement was signed by HE Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, and Dott. Luigi Febo, President of the City Council of Chieti, during a signing ceremony held in Ras Al Khaimah.
The LOI establishes a framework for cooperation between Ras Al Khaimah and Chieti to support key areas of the energy transition, including industrial efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, home automation, water conservation, and emission reduction.

H.E. Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, stated:
“Sustainability is a global challenge that requires local action and international collaboration. Our agreement with Comune di Chieti opens new avenues to exchange expertise, attract innovative companies to Ras Al Khaimah, and provide development opportunities for local industries. This cooperation supports our commitment to driving the energy transition in line with the vision of our leadership and Ras Al Khaimah’s Integrated Sustainability Strategy 2050.”
Under the LOI, Comune di Chieti intends to facilitate participation from Italian companies within its network at the RAK Energy Summit and other local initiatives, while Ras Al Khaimah Municipality will offer platforms for dialogue, workshops, and business engagement with stakeholders across the emirate.

Dott. Luigi Febo, President of the City Council of Chieti, said:
“The collaboration agreement between Chieti and Ras Al Khaimah Municipality is certainly an opportunity for both cities and their respective territories. Chieti is a city with a thousand-year history, with an important presence from a cultural point of view and an economy based on culture, industry, services and also training, thanks to the presence of the University Gabriele D’Annunzio, an important reference for the territory. I am sure that our identity can find in that of Ras Al Khaimah common points on which to create synergy and build important opportunities for growth and development for both.”
RAK Integrated Sustainability (RIS) Strategy 2050, launched in 2024, defines the roadmap for sustainable development of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, addressing energy security, environmental protection, industrial competitiveness and decarbonisation of the economy.
