Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Community Policing Department has employed video conferencing technology to conduct a series of lectures targeting school students in their homes. The talks centered on the prevention of the coronavirus, as well addressed a number of security-related topics.

The first lecture in the program was delivered by first warrant officer Ahmed Al-Sahari, with all the talks in the series in line with the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the state to limit the spread of disease and to protect the community from infection.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Abdul-Rahman Al-Zaabi, Head of RAK Police’s Community Policing Department, highlighted that his department was keen to maintain its educational role in the community and was doing so remotely as per the government’s directives on social distancing, which are aimed at ensuring the continuity of services under all circumstances whilst at the same time ensuring maximum protection for society.

Al-Zaabi explained that his department is utilizing the Microsoft Teams application in conjunction with the administrative bodies of the five schools in Ras Al Khaimah that the students receiving the lectures attend. He highlighted that the names of the RAK Police’s Community Policing Department lecturers were officially approved by the Ministry of Education, underscoring that the ministry had welcomed the initiative. Al-Zaabi revealed that each lecture lasted around 30 minutes, with the number of students reached through the five days of the lectures being approximately 650.
