Ras Al Khaimah Ruler holds talks over Guangdong’s sustainable development journey

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has held productive discussions with the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission about the Province’s holistic sustainable development and how Ras Al Khaimah can benefit from its experiences.

H.H. Sheikh Saud was joined in the meeting by a Ras Al Khaimah delegation that included senior advisors and strategists, who shared ideas and learned about Guangdong’s urban planning process, its industrialisation, foreign investment experiences and its transition to developing smart cities.

Sheikh Saud said, “Guangdong Province has achieved remarkable development and progress in recent decades, and it is wise for Ras Al Khaimah, which is on a similar path, to learn from the experiences of our friends around the world. We believe that by adopting best practices from international partners, we can create a more vibrant, efficient and sustainable Ras Al Khaimah for the future, benefiting our people and strengthening our commitment to innovation and progress.”

With a population of over 126 million people, Guangdong has the largest economy of any province in China, with a GDP of $1.9 trillion (AED6.98 trillion) in 2023. It is a major manufacturing hub, with electronics, automotive, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-tech industries, finance and real estate making up some of the key sectors.
