Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) announced that all modes of transportation in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah have been fully upgraded to smart meters and cameras connected to the smart control and monitoring center.
As RAKTA seeks to expand the use of artificial intelligence techniques and process automation, which includes all transport sectors (public transport buses, taxis, school buses, marine transport, and mini-mobility systems), With the aim of raising the level of operational efficiency of the taxi and bus transportation services as well as the level of security and safety in transportation in accordance with the highest international standards.
H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, General Manager of RAKTA, explained that the package of services and development projects aims to achieve innovation in the provision of safe and sustainable digital transport services that are characterized by excellence, innovation, and future foresight, as well as achieving the highest customer happiness indicators.
H.E added that the smart meter system is one of the latest technology for taxis that operate on the artificial intelligence system, aimed at improving the operational processes of the taxi fleet. It is also connected to a smart control and monitoring system, which improves the smart city system by keeping it updated on the status of the fleet’s operating activities in real time and around-the-clock.
It is worth noting that these smart systems enhance the emirate’s security system and transportation security as they support government initiatives to move toward smart cities, improve the standard of living for residents, and support RAKTA’s first strategic goal, “people happiness,” second strategic goal, “integrated transport,” and fifth strategic goal, “flexibility and future shaping”. These systems also offer assistance and a full solution for the modern artificial intelligence-based management of taxi and public transportation bus fleets.
H.E also confirmed that the development projects implemented by RAKTA, such as the smart cameras project, smart meter, and the smart control and monitoring center, are strategic projects as they are a source of big data that helps decision makers to improve and develop services by increasing operational efficiency and increasing the number of trips for each vehicle. Additionally, rationalizing expenditure, reducing fuel and maintenance expenses, facilitating driving procedures, as well as reducing traffic accidents, complaints, and lost items in transportation.
