As part of its strategy for the 2020-2025 period and its objective to improve environmental sustainability, the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Transport Authority has launched the first two electric taxis in the UAE, in collaboration with Al Hamra Taxi and Al Arabia Taxi.

His Excellency Eng. Ismail Hassan Al Balooshi, Director General of RAK Transport Authority, asserted that operating electric taxis is an essential part of the Authority’s plan to transform taxis and render them 100% eco-friendly by 2024.

Eco-friendly hybrid vehicles currently account for 60% of Ras Al Khaimah’s entire fleet of taxis, H.E. revealed, adding that electric taxis add an entirely new concept to the transportation system, one that can help achieve sustainable development in the emirate.
