Ruler presents winner’s trophy at inaugural Ras Al Khaimah Championship golf tournament

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, attended the final day of the inaugural Ras Al Khaimah Championship golf tournament at Al Hamra Golf Club to present the winner’s trophy to Danish player Nicolai Hojgaard after four days of golf from the world’s top professionals.

H.H. Sheikh Saud met the event organizers, DP World Tour, players and sponsors as he watched the last action on the 18th hole of the immaculate Championship golf course.

“Sports is a powerful means to bring people together” said H.H. Sheikh Saud: “Ras Al Khaimah has a clear vision to continuously enhance quality of life in the Emirate and we consider sports to be a fundamental element in our plans.”

“Hosting such a prestigious event is a significant achievement for Ras Al Khaimah and is credit to all the entities involved in bringing it to fruition,” H.H. Sheikh Saud added.

“The Ras Al Khaimah Championship is yet another milestone in our ambitions to shape a better future for generations to come, and yet another accomplishment to proudly add to our track record, which spans economic, touristic, social and cultural sectors.”

The tournament, which attracted some of the best golfers in the world to the northernmost Emirate of the UAE, is the first of two back-to-back DP World Tour events to be hosted by Al Hamra Golf Club, the second being the Ras Al Khaimah Classic from February 10 to 13.
