Ras Al Khaimah Police (RAK Police) has announced the launch of a new policy for vehicle registration and renewal, with the revised procedures aligning with regulations that balance workflow and client servicing with health and safety in light of the current coronavirus pandemic. The new policy has been enacted following the directions of H.E. Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police.
Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Hamidi, Director General of Central Operations, RAK Police, clarified that the procedures include the renewal of registration for vehicles whose licenses have expired starting October 2019 to the current date. This is now done directly through the Ministry of Interiors’ smart application, which negates the need for the renewing individual to visit the Drivers & Vehicle Licensing Department, or Tasjeel Village.
Regarding the registration of vehicles whose licenses have expired before October 2019, the vehicle owner must visit Tasjeel to sign the technical test before pursuing the renewal procedure through the Ministry of Interiors’ smart application.
“Owners who want to renounce or export their vehicles must visit Tasjeel Village from 9:00 to until 2:00 pm, from Saturday to Thursday, to finish all the procedures related to these kinds of transactions. Newly purchased vehicles are being registered directly in the car dealerships in order to ensure the safety and health of the public through social distancing,” added Brig Al Hamidi.
Al Hamidi reassured the full commitment of Tasjeel Village’s staff in adhering to all precautionary and hygienic measures, such as wearing masks and gloves and ensuring social distancing during customer visits. He stressed that the public’s cooperation is vital to ensuring the UAE’s community successfully overcomes the COVID-19 outbreak.
