Environmentally friendly pedal-powered machines generate electricity to power their latest technology

Ras Al Khaimah Police (RAK Police) has combined modern technology with environmentally-friendly pedal power with the launch of smart bicycle patrols in the emirate.

A directive of Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of RAK Police, the patrols see officers using bicycles equipped with the latest smart technology to cover residential and tourist areas in Ras Al Khaimah.

Operated by officers from RAK Police, the bicycles used in the patrols enable a speedy response and instant communication with colleagues. Numbering 12 patrols in total, each comprises two smart bicycles equipped with technology that enables them to connect directly to RAK Police Operations Room.

Environmentally-friendly with a low ecological impact, the bicycles generate electricity that powers their various smart equipment, enabling the police officers to deliver their vital mission in protecting the public. The patrols are currently playing a major role in reinforcing movement restriction awareness during the ongoing National Sterilization Program taking place across the emirate.

The launch the of the bicycle patrols reflects the strategic vision of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and RAK Police in applying best police practices. They are considered a prime addition to the readiness of on-the-ground police teams to improve performance and safeguard all members of the community
