The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research is pleased to announce it will begin accepting new applications to its College Preparation Program on April 1. The highly selective program prepares Ras Al Khaimah Emirati students in grades 9-12 for academic success at competitive universities overseas or in the UAE.
“We are seeking the 40 brightest and most motivated 8th grade Emirati students in Ras Al Khaimah to join the Foundation’s College Preparation Program in September,” said Dr. Natasha Ridge, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This is a wonderful opportunity for students willing to challenge themselves personally and academically, especially if they are considering undergraduate studies in the UK, United States, Canada, or Australia.”
The Foundation began the College Preparation Program because His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, wants to provide meaningful opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills and reach their full potential. He is especially keen to see more Emiratis pursue overseas university studies so they are well-prepared to contribute to the future development of Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE. Graduates of the College Preparation Program have gone on to attend top universities around the world.
Emirati students admitted to the College Preparation Program are selected from a very competitive pool of candidates. They are given expert advice on career and university options as well as the opportunity to develop academic skills and English language proficiency, especially in reading and writing. Students attend after-school classes twice a week and receive guidance, support, and mentoring to prepare successful applications to top universities during Grades 11 and 12. In addition, service learning projects, team building exercises, and short-term overseas summer opportunities help to foster Emirati students’ personal development.
The application cycle for the 2019-2020 academic year will open April 1. For more information or to download the application, students should visit the Al Qasimi Foundation’s College Preparation Program webpage or call 07 233 8060.
