RAK Transport Authority – 2022 Pioneering and qualitative achievements

The general manager of RAKTA, H.E. Eng Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, announced that RAKTA achieved outstanding results in 2022, which included the introduction of new essential services that improve the transportation system, promote smooth movement, and improve the quality of life in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, where RAKTA carried out several projects. The establishment of the internal public transportation service through four main routes covers more than 86 km and connecting the areas of Ras Al Khaimah with the city center was part of the strategy and initiative to improve the flow of transportation in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, This launch was also followed by the introduction of the electronic Saqr card, which enables users to pay for internal public transportation via buses, as well as launching the smart control center, which aim to improve the monitoring and tracking system for transportation modes in the emirate, which is available 24/7 through tracking devices and smart cameras that have been installed. In public transportation, such as buses, taxis, and heritage Abras, artificial intelligence technologies are used to monitor drivers’ behaviors while they are operating the vehicle to increase safety. These technologies also help to process and resolve customer requests, such as requests for lost items, at a rate of 100%, which improves customer satisfaction. Which enhance the fourth and fifth strategic objectives “Environmental Sustainability and Assets” and “Resilience and the Future” .

RAKTA also launched the first phase of the Marine transport service for passengers through four main stations, in addition to launching new routes linking the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah with the main cities in the country, It included the launch of a route connecting the emirate with the city of Al Ain, after the successful operation of a route linking the emirate with the emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2021. Also, a route linking the emirate to the global village in Dubai has been operated with the aim of delighting mass transit users and facilitating their movement.

H.E added that 85% of the licensing transactions for transport activities were implemented through RAKTA’s digital platforms, which include (licensing companies – drivers – and vehicles) out of the total number of licenses issued, with an increase of 137% over the year 2021, which supports the government’s directions for smart transformation and achieves the first strategic objective “People’s happiness.”

Statistics and results of the transportation sector for the year 2022

The number of public transport users in the emirate reached more than 730 thousand passengers, with an increase of 108.4%, through the implementation of more than 73 thousand trips, as more than 485 thousand passengers benefited from the intercity bus service, and more than 241 thousand passengers from the internal bus service since its launch in April 2022, he added: More than 18,000 smart bookings for intercity bus service have been implemented, with an increase of 157.79% compared to 2021, through the smart application “RAKBus”, which allows customers to book and pay. Advance trips in an easy and safe way.

Moreover, the number of passengers of marine transport has reached more than 3,500 passengers, since the launch of the service in the first quarter of last year. 

Additionally, the smart booking for taxi vehicles through The Careem-Hala application exceeded 120,000 reservations, an increase of 51% compared to last year, and achieving a time-saving goal, it is noteworthy that RAKTA carried out more than 4.5 million taxi trips, and carried over 7 million passengers, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2021. The taxi typically arrived at the consumer in 3.1 minutes.
