Ras Al Khaimah Municipality launches ‘Upskill’, a training program in sustainable energy to enhance capabilities in the emirate

23 December 2021

Ras Al Khaimah Municipality has officially launched Upskill, a training platform for professionals and students in the emirate who want to upgrade their knowledge in sustainable energy.

The platform includes courses of several reputed regional and international training providers, such as Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC), Direktin from Italy, Energy Institute from the UK and National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) from India.

Ras Al Khaimah Municipality chose particular courses from these providers to fill some knowledge gaps identified in the market. They cover beginner to advanced levels across range of topics such as energy efficiency, sustainable buildings, industrial energy efficiency, renewable energy, green mobility and finance; and are suitable for executives, finance professionals, technical personnel and students.

Through Upskill, Ras Al Khaimah’s residents and working professionals can access those courses at discounted rates, negotiated by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality. H.E. Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality said, “Upskill was designed to address the training needs of people at different career levels and to enable them to develop their capabilities and contribute to wider sustainability targets of Ras Al Khaimah. We would like to thank RAK Human Resource Department, RAK Department of Economic Development and RAKEZ, for collaborating with us to promote this capacity building initiative and encourage participation of employees and all other registered companies in the emirate. We are also proud to join hands with the training providers who have come forward to support this initiative. We look forward to welcoming more training providers to Upskill and creating more opportunities for talent development in Ras Al Khaimah.”

Interested participants can select the course they want to take among those listed on the Reem website and apply for a discount code, which they can redeem when booking the course with the respective training provider. Participants may explore courses using the search function, or consider suggested courses based on their career track and topics of interest.

Upskill, Ras Al Khaimah Sustainable Energy Training Program, is established as part of the RAK Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040 that targets 30% energy savings, 20% water savings, and 20% contribution of electricity from renewable sources by 2040.
