Ras Al Khaimah Stage 6 of the UAE Tour has successfully concluded with Slovenian rider, Primoz Roglic crossing the finish line. The only tour race in the Middle East took competitors – representing 18 professional teams from around the world – through all the Emirates, starting off in Abu Dhabi before passing through the spectacular Ras Al Khaimah on March 1st.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “RAKTDA is delighted to have hosted the 6th stage of the UAE Tour in Ras Al Khaimah, and specifically at Jebel Jais, one of the UAE’s most iconic and stunning natural landmarks. Both the professional race and the UAE Tour Challenge – named the “Jebel Jais Climb Challenge” – were exhilarating to watch as the world’s best riders and amateur participants raced up the mountain to grace the finish line. Sports and adventure tourism is key to Ras al Khaimah’s tourism development strategy, and the UAE Tour is definitely an important addition to our rich sports events portfolio.”
This year’s edition of the UAE Tour also featured a new amateur race where cyclists experienced the UAE’s highest mountain, Jebel Jais, for a total distance of 46 km.
Ras Al Khaimah’s untouched landscape, such as the country’s highest mountain peak, Jebel Jais, 64km of pristine coastline, and further hidden gems provide cyclists with the ideal playground for mountain biking, desert excursions and touring. The emirate’s growing cycling community enjoys a diversity of two-wheel options – from the dedicated cycle lanes on Marjan Island, to mountain biking in Jabel Jabir, Jebel Jais and Wadi Showka.
