Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah: Tourism and travel sector plays effective role in advancing sustainable socio-economic development.
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, stressed the vital importance of international partnerships in increasing the contribution of tourism sector to sustainable development and entrenching the emirate’s position as one of the region’s most attractive tourism destinations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Annual Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Summit, hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), said the tourism and travel sector has an effective role in advancing the sustainable socio-economic development in the emirate and the UAE and introducing ‘’our rich culture and achievements” to the world.
‘’Increasing the contribution of the tourism sector to local economy is on top of our government’s priorities and strategic plans. We will continue our efforts to establish the emirate as a favourite local, regional and global tourism destination,” he added.
‘’Hosting this high-profile summit in Ras Al Khaimah for the first time in the Middle East region underscores our visions and aspirations to deliver that out strategic objectives,” he affirmed.
The three-day event brings together international thought leaders, industry shapers and senior decision-makers who are invested in driving tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific.
The event, comprised of conference presentations, leadership task force sessions, workshops, PATA board meetings and a travel mart component, will be hosted in various locations across the emirate.
Exploring the theme ‘Reconnecting the World’, the programme will provide a platform for PATA’s public and private sector members and partners to convene on critical industry topics, including destination recovery strategies, sustainability and resilience, human capital development, women in travel and innovation.
